Adult Education

SoulWork
SoulWork is our name for adult education on Sunday mornings—what some Episcopal churches might call adult forum. Our discussions begin following the 8:00 a.m. service in Lehman Hall across the Courtyard from the main Sanctuary building, after we’ve had a chance to greet one another at Coffee Hour.  We typically being around 9:10 a.m. and continue until 10:00 a.m.

Our discussions are usually but not exclusively led by our Rector, and occasionally by members of the parish who have volunteered to present a topic of interest or in their specialization. Topics may include matters of a scriptural or theological nature, historical, or relating to contemporary events and how they intersect with our faith.

Serving Others

St. Bede’s parishioners seek opportunities to serve those in need.  Over the years we’ve provided support to a wide range of organizations, both local and around the world.  Outreach projects welcome all participants: younger or older; those with families or those who are single.

Our parish focuses its efforts on three needs in particular: helping the unhoused and the food insecure, and providing educational assistance to those in need. Whether we are cooking a dinner for a homeless shelter, wrapping presents for families in need at Christmas, or making auction bids at the annual Gala, we collectively join hands to reach out in support of others.

Music at St. Bede's

Music is an integral part of our worship and a hallmark of what St. Bede’s has to offer to our community.  The voices of the choir, along with the beautiful playing of our gifted organist, draw many parishioners to the 10:15 service.  Under the guidance of our talented music director, we enjoy a variety of musical arrangements and genre that make Scripture come to life for us.

Our Von Beckerath pipe organ is exceptional, filling the sanctuary with its beautiful sound.  A number of talented instrumentalists in our parish also enhance our worship. In addition to weekly services, the choir offers evensongs and performances that highlight various composers. Our ensemble often joins other local church choirs for collaborative celebrations.

The Arts at St. Bede’s concert series offers live music throughout the year. Performances include vocal groups, soloists, string and brass ensembles, and other instrumentalists from around the world.
